Description

Overcoming Senior Moments shares ways to improve memory function for all age groups. It also defines diseases such as Alzheimer''s.

 Introduction :

The understanding that I can be master of my thoughts came to me late in life. It was my experience with paice disorder and things that triggered my attacks that first alerted me to this simple, yet complex fact. Knowing now that when my brain is stressed due to lack of movement, lack of water, poor nutrition or if I’m sleep deprived, it was cause me to have distorted thoughts, an inappropriate feeling or an inaccurate perception. The information I have researched in this book has helped me make better choices and live a less stressed, more relaxed and joy filled life. I now realize that for me, a high carbohydrate, caffeine fed diet will feed feelings of my being driven rather than being the driver.

A later diagnosis of AD/HD (attention priority differences) led me seek reading materials, and attend conferences and seminars in hopes that I would find causes for this disorder. It was the culmination of this inquiry and my training and treatment through the HANDLE Institute that helpe me see that I could take charge of my neural circuitry. It is my belief that we can now teach children how their brain works, and how to be responsible for care of their brain on a daily basis. - Frances Meiser

When Frances and I first wrote the children’s book, The Brain Train, I was already advising people to drink more water and add minerals to their diet. Since that time, I noticed a big change in my mother. As a youthful Senior Citizen, although she was extremely active, her thought patterns had begun to deteriorate and I noticed repetitive sentences and lots of forgetfulness. We all may do this from time to time and not notice, but when you see this kind of change in a parent, you get worried. Alzheimer’s is a highly publicized illness and every family fears the implications should one of their members lose their ability to think.I started my mom on crystalloid electrolytes, and also gave her ground flaxseed on a daily basis (products in the Resources chapter). Nothing else changed. Within two months she stopped repeating herself, and had fewer "senior moments." Four years later, she is so mentally sharp that many take her for a woman 20 years younger. She has such good recall ability that she could be a successful contestant on Jeopardy or Millionaire. Seeing results like this in a family member convinced me that many people could benefit from this simple solution. In Overcoming Senior Moments, Frances and I have given you information on supplements and lifestyle changes that we know work based on personal experience. We welcome your feedback. - Nina Anderson
