 Description

Although Nash Buckingham wrote eloquently about the golden and olden days and the old-timers of the Mid-South, there was much that he left out or just didn’t know.  The author knew the task would be difficult, because so much of the history of waterfowling has been lost, as all of the old-timers have gone to the Happy Hunting Ground, and with them so much of our history.

If the old-timers could talk, they would tell this generation of what occurred within their limits – what memories their confessions would conjure up, and how the hearts of waterfowlers would fill with pride at the recital of their glorious stories.  If they could talk, they would hearken us back with glee to the golden harvest of the good old days, for the old-timers lived during the Golden Age of Waterfowling.

This book is the writer’s attempt at telling some of their illustrious history and some of their glorious stories.  It begins just after the Civil War and proceeds to the late 1930’s and early 1940’s, for this was the end of the Golden Age of Waterfowling.  In a few instances, the writer ventures past this time frame when he had information that would be beneficial to the reader.

Find a quiet spot to read this book and link up to your waterfowling heritage, and add your memories to those of this book.
