The subject of this book is a small rural area called Township, and the authors have covered everything they could from its first settlement to the names of their neighbors.

 

A detailed account of this very specific place, the book describes the Victorian era in rural America in terms of the materials required to make a dress in 1900, the supplies bought and sold in a general store ca. 1824, and numerous photos, lists of students and the costs of education in one-room schoolhouses, and the need for 400 clams at a time when much of the area was nearly a wilderness.
